Positive: An oasis of calm. We stayed in the stone house and had a double room and living room to ourselves, separate private toilet and communal showers. The kitchen was communal too, but huge and clean and a joy to have breakfast in. So comfortable and quiet and easy and beautifully decorated.

Positive: The stone cottage in the secluded spot looks “history-laden” and beautiful. The spacious kitchen was well-equipped and many breakfast-items were provided. We asked to check-in at 14:30h instead of 16h and received an “Okay” for that. One has a living room and separate bedroom to oneself. Valentia Island is a gorgeous place to be in and around nature. Loved the Lighthouse on the island and the cliffs in Portmagee.
Negative: Although you have the rooms in the cottage to yourself, you’re not alone. In the garden, there were tents and busses which had been rented out as well. Many different travel groups stayed there. Everyone passed right in front of our windows, looking in, and then used the shared kitchen - every word spoken could be heard by us. Thus, it was noisy and not the expected get-away we had imagined due to the description. The bathroom had to be accessed by either a) leaving the building or b) going through the common-spaced kitchen. It was not clear to us whether that bathroom was shared with another party or only “ours.” Also, the host was a kind lady, yes, but on that day clearly overworked and couldn’t attend to all her guests in an appropriate way. At least three different travel groups (one couple, four men, another couple) wandered around for quite a while trying to find somebody for check-in...
Summary: The location is beautiful - the situation at the accommodation should be improved.
